Cleanse

Time for Cleansing. Some of you have gone back to college for a new semester. Some of you are heading to college for your first semester. Some of you are counting down days to go back to college. (I am nine days away from flying back) I have started my cleansing process already since mid-August for the coming Fall 2016 semester. I am READY!

I cleanse every semester. It helps me focus and prepares me for the coming semester. I start working out more so that I am healthy to take on the weather and stress (I have a horrible internal body). I start creating a sleep schedule where I have a certain bedtime and certain range of waking up (I mean it’s hard to go from waking up at 12 pm to 8 am…ok!). I start updating, sending out emails, checking portals, and school related things so that I can come back with a smooth transition.

I set goals and motivate myself with intensive rap music. I also throw out the bad stuff that happened the semester before where I either drop toxic people or keep a safe distance from certain people. I start making plans on meeting friends who I haven’t seen in ages…I basically start contacting the humans after alienating them for two weeks or two months (except my best friends). And that’s how I cleanse.

Cleansing helps you take a break. It helps you get back on your feet. It’s like a fresh start. That’s how each semester should be. It should be a clean slate. It’s another chance for you to try again and try harder and try smarter. It’s a way to come back from that stressful semester that you have dealt with in terms of academics, friends, relationships, etc. It’s like washing all the dirt and bruises and making yourself look all clean and shiny and ready to take on the world once again.

For me personally, I love cleansing period because it’s this calm time for me to slowly transition back to my life after taking a break. It’s also a time for me to understand, analyze, and come to terms with the bad things that have happened. I like to clear my head and just start fresh and whatever I didn’t do in the previous semester, I plan to do it this semester. It feels really nice to just let go and prepare yourself for a new semester.

This year, the goals that have been set to be accomplished from my cleansing are mostly based on me. I want to meet new people through clubs at school. I want to have a strict schedule where I am focused on being healthy and happy. I won’t be depending on people to the point where I will fall apart if they leave. Things like that. Things may change once I go back. But having some sort of structure is always good. It helps you come back stronger and ready to ace.

You can always have a fresh start. You don’t need to carry forward the past.
