I recently watched a movie called PINK which was based around sexual assault. (If you would like to watch it with english subtitles, I have put the link on my page) Which is a very relevant issue in every corner of the world. We all know it happens. We all hide it if it happens to us. We all want to scream for help but it will be pointless. We tell each other to speak up and out but at the same time to be quiet about it. When I watched this movie, there were some quotes which resonated with me and gave me hope and I would like to share them with you. It might just be a movie, but it is a reality too.

1. Hamare yahan ghadi ki sui, character decide karti hai
   (In our society, the time decides the character of a person)
2. Aaj tak hum log ek galat direction mein effort karte rahe. We should save our boys not the girls. Because if we save our boys then our girls will be safe.
   (Till today we are looking at the wrong direction of where to put the effort to solve this problem)
3. Na sirf ek shabd nahi, apne aap main, ek poora vaakya hai. Ise kisi tarah ki spashtikaran, explanation ya vyankhya ki zarurat nahi hoti. Na ka matlab sirf na hi hota hai.
   (No is not just a word, it is a complete sentence. There is no need for an explanation to be said. No means no!)
4. Sharaab ko yahaan par ek kharaab character ki nishaani mana jaata hai, ladkiyon ke liye. Ladkon ke liye nahi. Ladkon ke liye, yeh sirf ek health hazard hai!
   (If a girl consumes alcohol, it says that she has bad character. But if a boy consumes alcohol, it is just a health hazard.)
5. Shehar mein ladkiyon ko alag nahi rehna chahiye, akele nahi rehna chahiye. Ladke reh sakte hain par ladkiyaan nahi. Independent ladkiyaan ladkon ko confuse kar deti hain!
   (In cities, girls shouldn’t live separately or alone, but boys are allowed. Independent girls confuse boys)
6.  Jo ladkiyaan party mein jaati hain aur drink karti hain, woh pushtaani hak ban jaati hain aapka
   (A girl who drinks at a party gives boys the right to do anything to them) 
7. Rock show mein hai toh hint hai. Aur library ya mandir mein hai toh hint nahi? Venue decide karta hai character
   (If a girl is at a rock show, it is a hint for sex. But if you are in the library or temple, that’s not a hint. Location decides the character)
   
8. Agar ladkiyaan ladkon ke saath dinner ya drinks par jaati hain, toh woh unki apni choice hoti hai. Available hone ka signboard nahi ban kar jaati hain wo!
   (If a girl goes out for a dinner or drinks with boys, that does not mean she is available to do sexual acts with.)
9. Raat ko ladkiyaan jab sadak par akeli jaati hain toh gaadiyaan slow ho jaati hain aur unki sheeshe neeche utarne lagte hain. Din mein yeh mahaan idea kisi ko nahi aata!
   (In the night, if a girl is alone, cars slow down and windows roll down, but during the day, no one comes up with this amazing idea to act on)
   
10. Kisi bhi ladki ko kisi bhi ladke ke saath baith kar sharaab nahi peeni chahiye. Kyunki agar wo aisa karti hai, toh ladke ko yeh indicate hota hai ki ladki agar mere saath baith kar sharaab pe sakti hai, toh woh uske saath sone ke liye bhi katrayegi nahi.
    (Any girl should not drink in front of men. This indicates that if she drinks in front of me then she will be willing to sleep with me.)
    
11. Kisi bhi ladki ko kisi bhi ladke ke saath, kahin bhi akele nahi jaana chahiye. Kyunki aise karne se waahan ko log assume kar lete hain ki wo willingly wahaan par aayi hai aur unhe use touch karne ya choone ka license issue kar diya hai.
    (If any girl is with a boy, she should not go anywhere alone with him. Because if she does, then it can be assumed that she is going willingly and gives the boy the authority to touch her)

The most important quote in the movie:

These boys must realise, “na” ka matlab “na” hota hai. Use bolne wali ko parichit ho, friend ho, girlfriend ho, koi sex worker ho ya aapki apni biwi hi kyun na ho. “No” means “no”. And when someone says no, you stop!!

These boys must realize, no means no. It doesn’t matter if it is a family member, friend, girlfriend, sex worker or even your own wife. No means no. And when someone says no, you stop.
